Shin Kong Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign Kicks Off

 

Due to weather conditions during the autumn and winter seasons, the willingness of the public to donate blood has decreased. Recently, blood inventory across Taiwan has reached an alarming level. It is anticipated that there may be a shortage of blood supply around the Lunar New Year period. Shin Kong Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (2888) and its subsidiary Shin Kong Life Insurance Co., Ltd. have long been concerned about the seasonal blood shortage and age gap in blood donation in Taiwan. From February 1st (Thursday) to March 25th (Sunday), they are partnering with renowned internet illustrator, 10 Second Classroom, to organize the Shin Kong Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign at 33 locations across Taiwan. The campaign urges the public to "spend ten seconds to help more people," calling for enthusiastic participation in blood donation to raise the blood inventory level, assist in medical preparedness, and save more precious lives.

 

To express gratitude for the public's enthusiastic participation in blood donation activities, Shin Kong Life Insurance has collaborated with the Nanzhou Farmers' Association in Pingtung to procure "Pingtung Large Thin Salt Soy Sauce." Developed by the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, the soy sauce is made from non-genetically modified yellow and local black soybeans, without the addition of extra potassium salt, caramel color, or preservatives. It has also passed food certification. This soy sauce will be gifted to blood donors who complete their donation at designated locations during the campaign period. The aim is to ensure that the public can consume safe food without health concerns. Everyone is encouraged to actively participate and promote their own blood metabolism while spreading love and positive energy in society. Shin Kong Life Insurance has been actively involved in social care, initiating the nationwide blood donation campaign in 2009 to encourage people to donate blood. Now in its 16th year, the campaign has collected over 40,000 bags of blood, translating the concept of "donate one bag of blood, save one life" into practical action. Since blood cannot be stored for long periods, enthusiastic blood donors are needed to donate regularly to sustain the supply of blood for medical purposes. Therefore, since 2003, Shin Kong Life Insurance has been providing free parking space for blood donation vehicles at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store Plaza, known as "Di Hou." To date, over 45,000 bags of blood have been collected, ensuring a continuous supply of blood donation resources.
